    Our Self-Catering Studio Apartments include a full kitchenette — perfect for longer stays or families. Guesthouse and Motel Rooms have a fridge and tea & coffee facilities, but no full kitchen.

    Yes — we have a swimming pool surrounded by our 2 acres of tropical gardens, free for guest use.

  • How close are you to the James Cook Museum?

    An 8-minute walk — we're an easy stroll from the museum and the rest of Cooktown's historic precinct.

  • Can I walk up Mount Cook from the motel?

    Yes — the Mount Cook walking-track trailhead is within walking distance of the motel. It's a steeper climb than Grassy Hill (the easier 360° lookout closer to town), best tackled in the cooler months of May to September.

  • Is Mount Cook Motel a good base for Cape York?

    Yes — Mount Cook Motel is the new name for the property previously known as Cooktown Alamanda Inn. Same owners, same garden setting at 60 Hope Street, same warm welcome — just a fresh name that better captures our spot at the foot of Mount Cook, the peak Captain Cook himself climbed in 1770.
